Professional Supervision for Pastoral Ministry
Safe Harbour Conversations
A professional, confidential service that provides church leaders with personal support to help them navigate the uncertainties and challenges of leading congregations in this period of social and financial uncertainty. We offer both psychological services and culture change experts as part of our team supporting church leaders.
What our psychologists have to offer
Safe Harbour Conversations psychological support:
Creates a safe space with our trained and experienced psychologists. Our team draw on their varied therapeutic practice and provide a deeper level of support for anxiety, stress or depression and more importantly can shift a church leader out of a repetitive cycle of behaviour where they feel stuck. This can include patterns that limit personal, spiritual and congregational growth. Safe Harbour conversations also supports those who have been negatively impacted by involvement in church leadership. This is also your safe harbour space to talk through the impact of leaving or transitioning from church leadership. Under guidance and direction from a GP, these sessions may attract a Medicare rebate. All our psychologists use Telehealth and are not limited by location.
Who are we?
Safe Harbour Conversations is a team of highly experienced psychologists – all of whom draw from a mature, experienced faith perspective.
Many of our senior practitioners also have had decades of personal experience working in church leadership and ministry so they understand the unique language and nuance of church leadership.
Psychological Support that goes deeper…
A regular (usually monthly) time for in-confidence personal reflective practice and debrief is known to ensure longevity, well-being, improved relationships, and a more well-rounded perspective. In some healthcare settings this is termed ‘regular supervision’.
Safe Harbour Conversations is not leadership development. Rather, Safe Harbour Conversations offers confidential, highly supportive one-to-one sessions where issues can be discussed, questions can be raised, frustrations aired and alternative perspectives explored within a faith-based frame of reference. Safe Harbour Conversations exists to serve and support church leadership but is apart from any movement or denominational hierarchy and works best alongside and in addition to existing pastoral ministry support systems.
